Belfast Scaffolding Employment Academy Celebrates Successful Completion
Workforce Training Services is delighted to celebrate the successful completion of our recent Belfast Scaffolding Employment Academy, delivered in partnership with Belfast City Council, CITB NI, local employers, and industry partners.
The academy was designed to provide participants with the qualifications, knowledge, and industry experience needed to begin a career within the scaffolding and wider construction sector. We are pleased to report that 13 participants successfully completed the programme, representing an excellent achievement and a strong commitment from everyone involved.
Throughout the academy, participants completed a comprehensive programme of training, including:
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Health, Safety & Environment Test (NOCN)
- Health & Safety in the Workplace
- CISRS Operative Training Scheme (COTS)
- CSR Card Training
- Employability Skills and Interview Preparation
- Employer Engagement Activities
- Construction Site Visit
A particular highlight of the programme was the site visit to McCrory Access, where participants had the opportunity to see a live construction environment in action, learn more about scaffolding operations, and gain first-hand insight into careers within the industry. The visit was extremely well received, with participants thoroughly enjoying the experience and valuing the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals.
The academy also benefited from excellent support from employers throughout the programme. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the sector, understand employer expectations, and prepare for future employment opportunities through dedicated employability and interview sessions.

While the training element of the academy has now concluded, our work with participants continues. All 13 completers are currently being supported by the Workforce Training Services mentoring team as they progress towards employment opportunities within the construction and scaffolding sectors. We will continue to work closely with local employers to help participants secure sustainable jobs and build long-term careers.
A huge thank you goes to Belfast City Council, CITB NI, McCrory Access, Advanced Scaffolding, Denholm, and all partners and employers who supported the academy. Their involvement has been invaluable in helping participants take their first steps into the construction industry.
We look forward to sharing further success stories and employment outcomes in the coming weeks as participants continue their journey from training into work.
