What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a structured programme that combines employment and education, offering individuals the chance to earn a wage while gaining valuable skills and qualifications. It is a pathway that equips apprentices with practical experience in their chosen industry, blending on-the-job training with classroom learning. This unique combination ensures apprentices are well-prepared for their careers, whether they're starting out or shifting direction.

Key Features of Apprenticeships

  • Employment and Learning: Apprentices work as employees and earn a salary while attending training sessions.
  • Qualification Levels: Apprenticeships range from Level 2 (equivalent to GCSEs) to Level 7 (comparable to postgraduate degrees).
  • Duration: Programmes typically last between 2 to 4 years, depending on the level and role.
  • Industry Variety: Available across diverse sectors, including childcare, motor vehicle maintenance, business administration, and catering.
